Anti-Racism & Decolonising Practice Statement
My practice is rooted in a commitment to anti-racism and to the ongoing, necessary work of decolonising therapy. That means acknowledging the historical and ongoing harm caused by colonialism, racism, and white supremacy, and doing my part to ensure those dynamics aren’t repeated or left unnamed in the therapeutic space.
Therapy doesn’t happen in isolation. Our inner struggles are shaped by wider systems. Some oppressive, some nourishing. I believe healing includes naming and gently unpicking those broader forces: colonialism, racism, classism, ableism, and other systems that have severed people from land, community, ancestry, and a sense of belonging.

As a white, British, therapist, I have benefitted from systems that continue to privilege some while marginalising others, both here in the UK and globally. I name this not as a performance, but as part of my responsibility. I am indigenous to this land in the sense that my ancestry is rooted here, and at the same time, I carry the privilege of whiteness in a world where race, history, and power are unequally distributed. I sit with that complexity and let it inform my practice with humility and care.

I also draw on ecopsychology and nature-based ways of working, which invite us to remember that healing isn’t only internal, it’s relational. Many of us carry deep grief and longing around our disconnection from the natural world, from our own bodies, from community. Part of decolonising therapy, for me, is about reclaiming our belonging to the living world in ways that honour Indigenous and land-based traditions without appropriating them, and that root us in justice and reciprocity.

My intention is to offer a space where you can bring all of who you are, your culture, your resistance, your softness, your grief, your joy. Especially if you’ve felt silenced or marginalised, you are welcome here.
This work is ongoing. I don’t claim to have it all figured out, but I stay open, curious, and committed to learning, unlearning, and showing up with integrity.
